ROBBIE Morris has driven some exceptional horses in his time but Private Eye was still able to stun the Menangle driver with how easily he won Wednesday night's NSW Breeders Challenge Colts and Geldings Heat (1,730 metres).

The unbeaten and cleverly named Hes Watching x Oh Eye See gelding, trained by Rob Xerri, came up from Victoria with expectations through the roof and somehow he still exceeded those expectations.
When Private Eye ($1.28) let loose in the third quarter he bolted away from his opposition so easily it looked like the rest of the field had concrete blocks stuck to their hooves.
The margin of victory blew out to 37 metres, with Steve Turnbull's Saint Emilion ($6) heading the rest of the field.
The winning mile rate was a lightning quick 1:53.2.
The scary part of it all? Morris doesn't believe Private Eye was 100 per cent focused in his run for home.
"I was a bit surprised. He gave me a really good feeling at the trials but he's still so green. It's actually scary how green he is and seeing how well he can go.
"Down the back straight I chirped at him and roused on him a bit and then he just exploded. He switched off and still went 27 seconds across that last quarter. If something went with him then I'd hate to see what he would have went.
"We came here to give him a good blowout to see where he's at. Rob's done a terrific job with him and so have [former trainer] Ahmed Taiba and his family down in Melbourne. He probably would have brought him up himself if not for COVID."
