I read, with great interest, the Western Advocate letter (October 6) from Ian McArtney.
Mr McArtney's history, especially as a past caretaker and resident on Wahluu, give his story great credibility. There are not many as knowledgeable about the Mount.
For a self-described "Gullible Old Mug", his letter is one of a particularly erudite man.
- We need such special places as a haven in a material world
- Letter | Don't let this become a mini Juukan Gorge for Bathurst
- Letter | There's a simple reason why people don't use McPhillamy Park
- Letter | Kart track on Mount will rev up this city's economy
- Council votes to stand by original decision on go-kart track site
- Bathurst Kart Club's full statement on the go-kart track site
The majority of his findings have never been discussed in council, or at least not disclosed by them.
It is time for the facts to be revealed to the citizens and ratepayers of Bathurst.
They need to be openly discussed at length by the council.
One wonders what Bruce Bolam, Nevil Barlow or Les Wardman would have thought about the construction of a go-kart track being considered in a public park.
I fully agree with all the comments in Ian McArtney's letter.
