I speak as a sports coach, former representative on Bathurst Sports and Recreation Council, advocate for improved youth amenity through the co-ordination of the Gold Country Sport-21k and president of the Community Opportunity Shop Inc.
Bathurst's young people have for a long time aspired for improved amenity.
An increase in the number of - and diversity of - projects, such as the proposed go-kart track on Mount Panorama, is supported by surveys such as those derived from the Gold Country Sport-21k sports study of Bathurst.

Bathurst schools, many Bathurst families and sporting and community organisations are looking for local spaces to socialise, enjoy each others' company and come together to spend time.
If Bathurst's young people are to see improved amenity then it will be by virtue of successful projects going ahead such as the go-kart club's proposal.
It matters that the wishes of the boys and girls from the various secondary schools has seemingly not been promoted and that their opinion and the value of increasing additional leisure opportunity is seen for what it could be: a real asset to an age group that gets measured leisure infrastructure in the city.
The youth of Bathurst Regional Council community will enjoy the presence and placement of any leisure product and I hope that families have the conversation with their children, supporting projects such as the go-kart proposal going ahead.
All people have a right to an opinion, but please don't dismiss the hopes and wishes of our city's youth; seek them out and have the conversation and let's improve things on so many levels for the youngest members of our community.
