The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast possible showers starting this evening but heavier falls are expected on Saturday and Sunday.
There is a very high chance of rain on Saturday, with falls of up to 30mm forecast across the Bathurst region, followed by falls of up to 10mm predicted for Sunday.
The bureau is also forecasting daily showers until at least Thursday next week.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
The forecast rain will continue Bathurst's pattern of drought-breaking rains through winter and spring that have seen Ben Chifley Dam return to capacity for the first time in almost four years.
The dam was at 100.2 per cent capacity when Bathurst Regional Council took its weekly reading on Tuesday, with inflows still averaging around eight megalitres a day.
The dam was below 50 per cent capacity this time last year.
