Sunday's clash against WZPL rivals Dubbo - a potential grand final preview - was washed out due to the wet weather, meaning the only chance the districts will now have to play each other will be on the last day of the season.
And while that's a bitter pill to swallow there's a sweet feeling for Ryan knowing that the October showers have been putting plenty of smiles on farmers and families across the region.
"This the the game that you look forward to each season, given our recent past. They've been our major competitor in recent times and they've been the benchmark for many years," he said.
"It's unfortunate, but there's been some nice rainfall for this time of year. It's been a while since we've been getting falls like this so you've got to be thankful for that."
Bathurst won their opening clash against Cowra and were eager to see if they could build on that performance against one of the toughest outfits in the competition.
The grand final rematch has been denied but there's still lots of cricket to come.
"Bathurst cricket is in a really good place at the moment and everyone's really enjoying playing together. Everyone was available who had played in the first game, along with others who had been selected as well," Ryan said.
"It's good to have a variety of players from different clubs and the best part of it is testing yourself against the best players from the region, and that gives you the scope to know how to get better and play the best cricket that you can."
