The Neighbourhood Centre has partnered with the Bathurst Rotary Club to donate a mobility scooter to the person with the most insightful story on how the vehicle could benefit their lifestyle.

The scooter, valued at $4000, will be awarded in conjunction with World Kindness Day, observed on November 13 each year worldwide to highlight good deeds in local communities.
Bathurst Rotary Club member Chris Bennett said the scooter was sourced from Irene Browning, one of his Abroearth clients.
"The scooter had flat batteries, so we sought about rectifying that, and Mitchell Batteries supplied the batteries at cost to us," Mr Bennett said.
"We thought The Neighbourhood Centre would be ideal to work in conjunction with for this promotion, as they have a range of contacts who could potentially benefit from this scooter."
Nominations for the promotion opened on Monday, with members of the community encouraged to submit a story about a deserving person by November 25.
The Neighbourhood Centre service manager Therese Short said the scooter will be of great benefit towards residents with mobility issues.
"Whether they're young, old or have a disability, we feel this would benefit someone needing mobility assistance but cannot afford their own scooter," Ms Short said.
"A panel of judges appointed by the promoters will decide the winner, and in the spirit of World Kindness Day, we ask that, once the scooter is no longer required, it be donated back as a 'gift that keeps on giving'."
