Nine fours, six sixes and 94 runs later he had virtually wrapped up a monumental Bathurst Orange Inter District Cricket victory for St Pat's Old Boys against CYMS.
The bonus point victory sent the unbeaten Saints to the top of the BOIDC table after Rugby Union accounted for previous leaders Orange City across town at George Park.
Cant's fast-paced knock from just 65 deliveries saw Pat's comfortably chase down CYMS' disappointing effort of 136 in the space of just 21 overs, and at the cost of only two wickets.
Once Cant had played out a couple of overs he started to really hit his stride and never looked back, blasting a 121 opening partnership alongside Andrew Brown (32).
"I probably took six or seven overs to get my eye in but after that I started to see the ball well and was playing my shots more freely," Cant said.
"There was one over where I started timing the ball much better and that's when my confidence lifted."
Ironically, it was Cant playing more reserved shot that led to his undoing, as he was caught trying to hit the match-winning runs.
"I still haven't got that first grade century," he said.
"I was caught at short mid-wicket pulling the ball. I was in two minds, looking more for the single but I probably should have just gone for the six."
Pat's now sit on 54 points with a five point buffer back to Orange City while Rugby Union maintain third place (43) over Cavaliers (41).
There's still three rounds before finals but the bonus point success has firmly cemented Pat's as the title favourites.
"We were really pleased getting the bonus point. There's obviously a lot of talented batsmen in the team who didn't even need to bat so we know we've got a lot of depth," Cant said.
"I'm sure it's comforting for Ryano [captain Adam Ryan] that he can put anyone out there to do the job.
"We'll keep trying to improve on each performance. I know there's still things we can improve upon, and that's important come finals time because it gets a lot tighter at the back end of the season."
The Saints' bowling efforts helped lay the platform for Saturday's win.
Mitch Taylor claimed season-best figures of 4-20, picking up the key wicket of Dave Neil for 47 along the way.
Angus Parsons was the next best with the ball as he finished on 3-27 while Connor Slattery claimed 2-15.
Aquinder Dhillon (2-6) claimed the wickets of Brown and Cant.
