For the second year running, Metro Perthville staged a sausage sizzle and hot food sale to raise funds for a worthwhile cause.
Yesterday's goal was to raise $4500 to purchase a water cooling system for Perthville Public School.
Metro Perthville owner Sri Rangineni said the massive response to the fundraiser has given him plenty of confidence the service station will achieve that goal.
"We had almost 1500 likes on Facebook and it was advertised all over the place, so we should easily get close to the $4500," Mr Rangineni said.
"The kitchen was busy all morning, and we had a significant rush in people purchasing sausage sandwiches while filling up, so there was a strong feeling of success early on."
Perthville Public School assistant principal Kirralee Naylor said a cooling system will give students access to filtered, slightly chilled water.
"Since COVID hit, the students have been unable to share bubblers, which has made them resort to filling up water bottles in classroom sinks," Ms Naylor said.
"The water cooling system will provide a healthier alternative for drinking water, and I think the students will greatly appreciate it."
Ms Naylor thanked the Metro Perthville team for their willingness to support the school.
"They do so much for the Perthville community and we're very grateful for their support," she said.
Metro Perthville hope to make the fundraiser an annual event.
