Firstly, Facebook is a social platform and, like any business, is out to make money. I use this platform to interact with family and friends.
Secondly, media outlets like the Western Advocate use the Facebook platform to post their stories out to the public free of charge (correct me if I am wrong).
OTHER RECENT LETTERS:
But note the hypocrisy here: the media post stories free of charge, you click on their link and, lo and behold, you hit a paywall and users needing vital information are asked to subscribe (pay money) to read their important news.
But if you think that hypocrisy is bad now, the media outlets are asking Facebook to pay them for putting up vital information that can't be accessed by the general public because we need to pay to read them.
Let's hear both sides of the story, eh?
