The popular community choir, which launched in early 2018, was put on hold last year due to COVID.
And while things are looking brighter for both venues and live performance, MitCon executive director Graham Sattler said both parties are waiting until the event can return without needing to turn people away.
"It's great that restrictions are being winded back, but there's still limitations on the number of people who can gather in the area left of the bar, where we'd normally hold choir," Mr Sattler said.
"Matt Harrowsmith [The George Hotel owner] and I agreed the event can return once 50 people are allowed in the space and as it stands, we can only allow 30, so we're going to hold off a little longer."
"PUBlic Choir was started to give anyone in the community a chance to participate, and to turn people away would contradict the original purpose of this initiative."

Mr Sattler said advertising the choir as a ticketed event has been discussed, but determined it would be an "impediment" to the role of the choir in the community.
"If we were to ticket the event, it would mean we'd have to exclude people as pre-COVID, we were attracting anywhere from 60 to 85 people each month," he said.
"PUBlic Choir was started to give anyone in the community a chance to participate, and to turn people away would contradict the original purpose of this initiative."
Mr Sattler said there's no plans to seek a new venue for the choir, as MitCon want to honour their gratitude to The George Hotel for facilitating the initiative.
"It's [The George Hotel] such a nice venue with great amenities, and they've been incredibly supportive of the choir," he said.
"We're optimistic for an April return should restrictions continue to ease."
Mr Harrowsmith said the choir has been a pleasing cultural addition to the venue's atmosphere.
"We're supportive of MitCon wanting to hold off a bit longer, as we're both conscious about COVID compliance and safety," he said.
From March 17, drinking while standing will be allowed inside pubs barring any further outbreak.
