The club will execute a variety of roles throughout the event, and it will also serve as an important fundraising opportunity.
Bathurst City Croquet Club president/secretary John Cook said the club jumped at the opportunity to help out.
"Some of our members will act as marshals during the Bathurst to Bathurst [B2B] and hill climb events to help riders stay on course," Mr Cook said.
We'll also be packing bags for cyclists to ensure they're well equipped for each event."
Mr Cook said the event is a great opportunity for community and sporting clubs to broaden their image and reach in a wider-reaching environment.
"We've been a club since 1927, but not too many people know about us because we're in a location in town people often overlook," he said.
Mr Cook said the funds will by raised via volunteer wage donations from Bathurst Regional Council based on hours worked at the event.
"The funds will help us purchase more equipment to enhance club games and encourage more members," he said.
"A set of balls cost $500 and a set of hoops cost $2500, so every fundraising opportunity helps."
The croquet club joins a long list of groups who have volunteered at the event over the years, including Bathurst Rotary, Bathurst Bushrangers, Perthville Rural Fire Service and the Country Women's Association.
Bathurst mayor Bobby Bourke said volunteers play an essential role to ensure the annual event runs smoothly.
"Larger events such as the Bathurst Cycling Classic are not only good for the local economy, but they provide a platform for organisations to promote their operations within the local community," Cr Bourke said.
"Council is always open to assist community groups, as they play an important role in the lives of so many people, and help contribute to Bathurst's diverse social and cultural offerings."
The Bathurst Cycling Classic will run until Sunday, with the criterium racing and B2B stages to take place on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
