Diamonds are commonly known to be precious, impregnable and enduring, which are, in many ways, fitting descriptive words to describe the union of Bathurst's Frank and Peg Farrell.

The Farrells celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 8, and will honour the occasion this weekend with a small celebratory dinner with family.
For Frank and Peg, the secret to the longevity of their marriage has centred predominantly around love.
"Frank and I still love each other very much, and we feel blessed that our union has spawned kind and thoughtful children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren," Peg said.
"Doing as I'm told has been a big help as well," Frank joked.
The Farrells were married at St Mary's Church in East Orange on April 8, 1961, and their union has spawned five children, 10 grandchildren and four [soon to be five] great-grandchildren.
They first properly met two years prior through their involvement with Orange CYMS Youth Club.
"We were heavily involved with the church, as well as CYMS' various sporting ventures, it was a very social affair in those days," Peg said.
"Peg was heavily involved with the netball club, while I was with the rugby league club so, from the beginning, sport was a big part in both of our lives," Frank added.
The Farrells have lived in Bathurst for the past 53 years, and have both made valuable contributions to the local community.
"I had my own business for 30 years, Bathurst Bedding and Nursery Centre in Bentinck Street, and managed a couple of furniture stores before that," Frank said.
"I've always been a big fan of performing arts: I've sung and performed in a host of local plays and used to front a jazz band at many balls," Peg added.
The Farrells continue to enjoy local sport, with Frank a regular at the Majellan Bowling Club [a foundation member] and Peg in a Thursday social competition at the Bathurst Tennis Centre.
"We've had a very fulfilling marriage, and are fortunate to have such a loving family by our side," Frank said.
