The council held the first of its two planned events, Fitness and Fun, at the Kelso Community Hub.
It was an opportunity for kids to play sport, use the play equipment and make new friends along the way.
Youth mayor Zoe Peters said there were plenty of young people in the community who had decided to take part in Fitness and Fun.
"We're really excited with how it turned out here at the Kelso Community Hub," she said.
"We have lots of kids joining us today for Youth Week."
The event started with a free barbecue lunch and social activities, before everyone split into teams to play soccer, basketball and football.
While it was a youth council event, it was run in collaboration with the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
"We were asked to support the youth council in running these activities because they're based on what we're doing in the community already," Pastor Raymon Paletua said.
The church hosts activities, including basketball nights and hanging out at the skatepark, to create safe places for children in the community.
At Fitness and Fun, the Seventh-Day Adventist Church associate pastors took on a mentoring role with the youth councillors.
Miss Peters said that, after seeing the success of Fitness and Fun, it would be an event the youth council will look to hold again in future.
The next Youth Week event will be held at the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum on April 23. Bookings are essential.
