Over 15,000 people have been vaccinated through Australian Defence Force pop-up clinics and vaccination hubs across the Western NSW region in recent weeks, with 58.6 per cent of Bathurst having received its first dose and 31.2 per cent fully vaccinated as of last week.
That numbers is now expect to have gone beyond 60 per cent having received their first COVID-19 vaccination and Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) Chief Executive, Scott Lachlan, was pleased with the response.
"We've seen an amazing response in Bathurst, Orange and across the region, from our GPs, pharmacists, Aboriginal medical centres and respiratory clinics," he said.

"We know in the past few weeks there's been significant lifts in vaccination rates, especially in people getting their first dose.
"Vaccination is really the solution to get out of this very difficult situation. It's pleasing to see so many people come to the ADF clinics. What we do know that there is a lot of GPs and pharmacies, respiratory clinics that have big volumes of vaccine, both Pfizer and AstraZeneca. Don't sit around and wait. Have a conversation with your family about how you can get vaccinated.
"Thank you to all those who have lined up and helped to get our vaccination rates up significantly."
WNSWLHD announced an increase in testing numbers across the region on Thursday afternoon, but was hopeful that numbers can still continue to increase.
Mr McLachlan encouraged people who are showing symptoms or had been to a venue of concern to come forward for testing.
"If you've got any symptoms, such as a sniffly nose, a scratchy throat or your stomach is feeling a bit upset, those are the really core things to look out for," he said.
"If you're feeling a bit off or concerned you might've been in contact with someone that was a bit sniffly or a location of concern, don't hesitate to get tested.
"If you're got symptoms, don't leave the house unless you're going to get tested."
There were 23 cases of COVID-19 reported across the region up onto 8pm on Wednesday night, with 18 in Dubbo, four in Orange and one in Brewarrina.
