Pear Tree Wholefoods surprised customers on Thursday with a free coffee as part of Greater Bank's "Greater Vibes" initiative.
The local organic wholefoods café was one of many in various communities that received $350 worth of pre-purchased coffees to hand out to customers.
IN OTHER BUSINESS NEWS:
Pear Tree Wholefoods employee Shell Sotiriou said it was a great day and everyone was so happy to receive their free coffee, with some even purchasing a coffee for another customer.
"It was amazing to see such a great turn-out and so many people not only taking a little gift from us but also paying it forward, which is a really beautiful thing to see in the community," she said.
Greater Bank said it developed the initiative hoping to create greater vibes and some positivity during a tough time.
It also gave the participating cafes an opportunity to attract new customers.
"It produced a really good vibe for our customers," Ms Sotiriou said.
"We did have a lot of familiar faces, but we also got to meet some other beautiful members of the community.
"Due to COVID, they otherwise probably wouldn't have come in for a morning coffee, and it just gave them the ability to come in and check out the store."
Ms Sotiriou credited the Greater Bank for the initiative, acknowledging that something as simple as a free cup of coffee was able to create such a positive energy in the store.
Pear Tree Wholefoods also has a promotion running, with Ms Sotiriou encouraging locals to come in and grab an $18 tub of gelato for $10.
