WHETHER or not his proposal of a top five Super2 shootout at Mount Panorama comes to fruition, the prospect of chasing a hot Bathurst qualifying lap is something that excites Broc Feeney.

Come the six-day Bathurst 1000 event later this year he'll get more than one chance to post a hot qualifier as well with Feeney set to be on double duties.
The star 18-year-old will not only look to finish the Super2 season as champion by finding success in the Mount Panorama finale, but he'll be tackling the Great Race alongside Russel Ingall in a wildcard entry.
The format of the Super2 round remains to be seen - more than likely it will feature a pair of races as was the case for the season opening Bathurst 500 where Feeney qualified first and eighth respectively.
The Triple Eight driver posed the idea of a top five shootout being added to Super2 qualifying for the Bathurst 1000 round when talking formats on Supercars Sessions.
But even if he doesn't get his Super2 wish, there will still be the lure of a top 10 shootout in the main game as Feeney has the job of qualifying the Bathurst 1000 wildcard entry.
"I can't wait, that's probably going to be the biggest highlight of the weekend I think for me," he said.
"Getting out there, everyone's on green tyres, everyone's got the same opportunity and it's my first hit out against those guys, so it will be very interesting to see where we pan out."
Certainly Ingall feels that the young gun has the potential to qualify for the iconic shootout given what he has witnessed Feeney do in testing.
"I'd be very surprised if our car isn't in the top 10 of qualifying, I'd be really surprised," Ingall said.
"It may be a bit bold but from what I've seen from the kid, he'll stick it in the 10. He's [Feeney] been lightning and we're not that far away from each other in race runs."
Doing double duties at the Mount is not something that bothers Feeney, he did it at last year's Bathurst 1000 when he drove in the Super2 series and partnered James Courtney to 10th in the Great Race.
"I don't think it was too bad last year and this year I'll probably be doing a little bit more driving in the main series car," he said.
"The only fortunate thing is this year is that it's an all-driver session when you're in the main series so Russell can do a little bit. If it's a back-to-back session he'll be able to jump straight in, whereas last year if there were back-to-back sessions and it was a co-driver only session you didn't want to waste any time, so you had to get straight back out there.
"So it's probably a little bit better for me this year and I'll probably be doing a little bit more laps as well."
Feeney will get his chance to take on Mount Panorama from November 30, with the 161-lap Bathurst 1000 set for December 5.
