WNSWLHD chief executive officer Scott McLachlan said on Wednesday Bathurst could expect "a handful of cases" reported as part of Thursday's COVID-19 figures.
"Investigations are still under way as to whether there was any broader risk in the community," Mr McLachlan said.
"I want to encourage people in Bathurst particularly to come forward for testing over the coming days. The low testing rates over the last two to three weeks have been really worrying."
"There's ample opportunities to get tested in Bathurst, and result turn-around times are getting better every day, so don't hesitate."
Mr McLachlan also reiterated the importance of getting fully vaccinated, as unvaccinated people will likely not receive the same freedoms until December under the NSW government's roadmap out of lockdown.
Opportunities to get vaccinated in Bathurst are set to get a welcome boost next week, with the Australian Defence Force [ADF] to open up a drive-through clinic at Mount Panorama.
The clinic will operate by appointment on Pit Lane from Tuesday, October 5 to Saturday, October 9, and will offer first doses of Pfizer to all people who are eligible, but haven't received a vaccine yet.
Mr McLachlan said the new drive-through clinic will be just the second across the District, with the existing clinic at Dubbo Showground's Ewen MacInnes Pavilion to be expanded next week as well.
"Being able to establish another drive-through vaccination clinic in the District is an exciting development and will help people in Bathurst have more access to vaccination, which has never been more important," Mr McLachlan said.
"Along with increased access to vaccines, drive-through clinics allow people to be vaccinated in the comfort of their own vehicle which also means less chance of exposure for patients, staff and the community.
"Drive-through clinics make vaccination more accessible to people with mobility issues and parents and carers too, who can be accompanied by their children or dependants, with up to four people able to be vaccinated in each vehicle.
"Like our vaccination hubs and the Dubbo drive-through clinic, bookings are essential for the new clinic at Bathurst. People can book now by calling 1800 684 423 and leaving a message or by texting 0400 485 308."
Mr McLachlan said those who receive their first vaccination at the new drive-through clinic at Bathurst or the expanded clinic at Dubbo will receive a booking for their second dose.
