The city added three COVID cases to 8pm on Wednesday, but it was a small increase compared with the 12 new cases at neighbouring Oberon.
Oberon, which hadn't had a COVID case throughout the whole of the pandemic up until less than a week ago, was put back into lockdown on Wednesday night.
Bathurst's three new cases follow a run of just two new cases for the city in 11 days.
YESTERDAY'S UPDATE: No new cases for Bathurst, total number of active cases falls
The Western NSW Local Health District announced on Thursday morning that stay-at-home orders would remain in place in Bathurst Regional Council area, as well as a number of local government areas, until Monday, October 11.
It was no great surprise, though, considering Bathurst had not been able to put together an extended period of zero new cases infectious in the community and October 11 is the Monday after NSW is expected to pass 70 per cent double dose vaccination.
The Western NSW Local Health District had 43 new cases in the latest reporting period, almost double the number from the previous 24 hours.
The new cases were made up of 12 in Oberon, seven in Bourke, six in Cowra, four in Dubbo, four in Wellington, three in Walgett, three in Bathurst, two in Narromine, one in Mudgee and one in Gulgong.
Across NSW, the state had 941 new locally acquired COVID cases to 8pm on Wednesday, which was up by about 80 on the previous 24 hours.
There are now 213 cases in intensive care (up by one on the previous day) and 105 requiring ventilators, which was down by three on the 24 hours before.
There were six deaths: two people from south-western Sydney, one person from Sydney's inner west, one person from western Sydney, one person from south-eastern Sydney, and one person from north-western Sydney.
The NSW Government says the state is now up to 62.9 per cent double doses and 86.7 per cent first dose.
