Owned by Medlow Flat's Graham Bullock, Red Hot Tooth had her final run at Maryborough on Sunday afternoon, running 11th in the TAB Maryborough Trotters Cup (Group 3 - 2690 metres).
Bullock said he had been in discussions with trainer Kari Males and admitted that now was the time.
"The trainer and I had always said, 'While the mare had always enjoyed racing, she would tell us when the time is to retire'," he said.

"Her last few runs had been below her best, so we decided now's the time."
Red Hot Tooth had managed 25 wins and 56 placings throughout her career, with her last run on Sunday also her 100th start.
She amassed $522,225 in prizemoney in her six-year career, with one of her best runs a second in the Great Southern Start (Group 1), which she lost by short half head.
"She's had a number of tremendous wins, been an elite trotter for quite a few years," Bullock said.
"Probably the best memory was she got beat by literally a lip in the probably the biggest trotting race in Australasia, the Great Southern Start.
"She's probably one of the best trotters that have been bred in Australia."
Bullock now plans to breed her, with a number of studs having already been in contact him him.
