The 77-year-old has been lured out of retirement by the opportunity of working with Olympic bronze medallist Harry Garside and No Limit Boxing, a promotion company run by George, Trent and Matt Rose.
The legendary trainer, who has worked with the likes of Kostya Tszyu, Jeff Fenech and Jeff Harding, sung their praises
"I was worried about the sport of boxing, but these two guys here [No Limit CEO George Rose and Garside] have the sport smelling like a rose," Lewis said.
"Like any other fighter, you really need a good promoter and you really need a really good manager, well, he's [Garside] got them both."
Just as being praised by boxing royalty was huge for the Rose brothers, so too was the news that Garside signed his first professional boxing promotional agreement with No Limit.
They already have plans for when he will make his professional debut.
"Harry won us all over with his great performance at the Olympics int Tokyo, winning a bronze medal in the boxing and becoming our first Australian in over 30 years to win a medal in boxing," George Rose said.
"We'll be looking to put him on the Tim Tszyu versus Takeshi Inoue card on November 17.
"It's already been tipped to be the best indoor live sporting event of the year for Sydney and he also brings his new trainer, the legendary Johnny Lewis."
Garside is delighted to have both Lewis and No Limit in his camp as he makes the transition from amateur to professional.
"I'm absolutely stoked to finally turn pro," he said.
"Once I found out you could go to the Olympics that was my dream, every young person wants to go to the Olympics and I finally got to do that and represent our country. I'm grateful now its the next chapter.
"I've signed with the best guys in Australia, they have TV rights and they are doing the best for Australian boxing No Limit, so I'm absolutely stoked."
