COUNCILLOR Warren Aubin's list of priorities for a new Bathurst Regional Council term is centred around issues that he knows will affect the vast majority of residents.

Cr Aubin was elected to council in 2008 and hopes voters will give him the opportunity for a fourth term, so he can pursue more projects he is passionate about.
One of his main priorities is improving Bathurst's water security long term.
He has been a staunch supporter of raising the Chifley Dam wall for years, but now he has abandoned the idea.
"I feel that raising the dam wall is no longer an option. It's still a long-term project, but when you look at the problems we would face ... we would have to buy the land, and that with the added cost of building a much bigger spillway, plus the wall, we are looking at a project of $300 million, and then we still face the problem of filling the dam," Cr Aubin said.
What he is proposing for council to pursue instead is a pipeline to a major dam, something that he says the Central NSW Regional Organisation of Councils (CENTROC) is already liaising with the state government about.
"The state government has to look at their desalinisation plant to run into Warragamba Dam. Keep the level of Warragamba Dam up, and then they can afford to pump water out to our regions," Cr Aubin said.
"There is an easy way for Bathurst to get water from this system, if they build a pipeline of 65 kilometres from Warragamba Dam to the Oberon Dam, at a cost of about $35 million.
"That water could be, obviously put in the Oberon dam, but it could be let down the Fish River, which comes straight to our filtration plant. In times of drought, we would have a supply of water."

When it comes to roads, he said council needs to change the way it repairs surfaces.
If elected, he would be pushing council staff to trial new equipment that uses hot mix, as opposed to a blue metal mix, to repair potholes.
"I believe that these potholes should be treated properly, filled with hot mix so it does a far better job. There's no splattering of tar on the cars, it's fixed straight up and fixed for a longer period of time," Cr Aubin said.
"... I want them to trial the machine. When we see how it works, we can look at upping the ante and getting two to do our region."
Cr Aubin is also a big supporter of the Bathurst Integrated Medical Centre, and wants to make progress on his idea to string lights over two blocks of William Street.
He is running on a ticket with Neale Bayliss, Holly Davis, Warren McCaull and Wayne Loader, who he says support his ideas.
