The Inter Dominion Pacing Championships pair of favourites, King Of Swing and Expensive Ego, had no troubles in taking out the first and second of the night's heats respectively while Malcolm Rhythm caused an upset in the last of the 2,400 metre events by beating Spirit Of St Louis.
For the six-strong Bathurst contingent it was a mixed bag of results, with Amanda Turnbull's duo of Bundoran and Ellmers Image plus Bernie Hewitt's Make Mine Memphis faring the best.
Bundoran was sixth in the opening heat behind Miracle Mile champion King Of Swing, pulling out wide in the late stages to make up some ground on the rest of the chasers.
Turnbull's runner had spent most of the race sitting midfield and posted outside Chris Frisby's fellow Bathurst hope Our Uncle Sam.
Some space out wide arrived for Turnbull on the home stretch and at one stage it looked like Bundoran would challenge for a top four finish but came up just short of the mark.
Ellmers Image was seventh for Turnbull in the last of the heats while Hewitt's Make Mine Memphis was sixth in the second heat behind Expensive Ego.
Turnbull enjoyed a comfortable trip on Ellmers Image when sitting two back on the inside line but couldn't quite stay in touch with the front runners over the full distance of the Sydney straight, handing up fifth spot inside the last 50 metres to Pocket Of Terror.
Make Mine Memphis had a similar trip and battled on hard in his heat to just hang on to sixth spot, 20.5m behind Expensive Ego.
Former Inter Dominion runner-up Our Uncle Sam wasn't too far away from the action, running eighth in his heat, but will look for improvement in this Wednesday's home heats.
His long shot hope Aphorism was second last in his heat while Steve Turnbull's Atomic Red came home last in the third heat of the Menangle meeting.
