The first clue was announced on the Bathurst Youth Facebook page, with a total of 12 decorations to find.
Entries will go into a draw to win a number of prizes according to Bathurst youth mayor Ashley Maalouf.
"Correct entries will go into a draw for a chance to win eight vouchers including Annie's Ice Cream, Metro Cinemas, Bathurst Aquatic Centre and tenpin bowling," she said.
"We wanted to make it a bit different to last year and make it fun."
Harvey Lew - the Bathurst deputy mayor - explained that the scavenger hunt was months in the planning and took a bit of brain power to come up with some catchy clues.
"We had to get all the businesses engaged in what we were doing and then getting them to fill out certain permissions. Making the clues is also difficult, because we try to make them rhyme and sound cute," he said.

Entries for the hunt are expected to close on Friday, December 17.
