THERE was always a strong chance that Bernie Hewitt would be able to pull off the trifecta in Wednesday night's Group 3 NSW Breeders Challenge Western Region 3YO Fillies Final (1,730 metres) but not many punters would have correctly guessed the order.

Hewitt's outside shot Iamajoyride ($12, Jason Hewitt) used the sprint lane to sprint by her more fancied stablemate Ballerini ($1.30 favourite, Bernie Hewitt) and score the upset by a head.
The Georges Plains trainer had the top three effectively locked up with a little under 200m to go, as Winona Writer ($4.60, Luke McCarthy) and her two stablemates gained a small break over the rest of the field.
The only question was what order they would finish in.
Winona Writer, who had battled away in the death seat, lost touch over the last 150m and that left Ballerini and Iamajoyride the fight things out.
Hewitt, who had been in the gig with Ballerini, wasn't too surprised to see Iamajoyride get the edge on his favourite.
"I knew she was going to be a big danger. She's been flying, and her run last week was massive. She sat outside them in that one and went super," he said.
"This one worked out the way we hope. I was able to cross and lead, and [Iamajoyride] would have that perfect trip behind. To her credit she was good enough to win it. She went super.
"To get a trifecta in a Group 3 I'm very happy about that. Kath and I own the winner, which is great for us. I don't think any of the other owners can be too disappointed - they all ran fantastic."
It gave Hewitt a rare trifecta at Group level - something he's not certain that he's ever been able to achieve before.
Meanwhile, fellow Bathurst trainer Steve Turnbull dominated the two-year-old finals thanks to brilliant efforts from Pas De Cheval and Saint Veran in the fillies and colts-geldings races respectively.
