BATHURST police have made significant inroads in a crackdown on motorcycle hoons tormenting Kelso and Raglan residents.

After receiving numerous complaints of unregistered trail bikes, Bathurst Highway Patrol commenced Operation Furious to detect and deter people who were illegally riding unregistered motorcycles.
Since the operation commenced in November, police have since handed down 10 traffic charges and nearly a dozen traffic infringement notices related to registration and licence offences.
Bathurst Highway Patrol's Sergeant Ryan Baird said the operation will continue as long as necessary.

"There will be a 'no tolerance approach' to anyone who decides ride illegally and without concern for the law," he said.
"My team and I are more than happy to seize these unregistered trail bikes and have the owners explain to a magistrate why they should get them back".
As part of the operation, officers were utilising police trail bike riders, patrolling areas where offences are likely to be committed.
In the most recent incident, Bathurst Highway Patrol detected two persons riding unregistered motorbikes in the Kelso area.

One of these riders had been warned about the illegal use of motorbikes on a number of occasions.
Police are also investigating a number of other offences involving the use of unregistered bikes, including a collision between an unregistered bike and a bus.
It is anticipated that more will be charged with traffic offences in the coming weeks.
