POLICE say a man will face court today charged with assault after he is alleged to have coughed in an officer's face at Kelso on Wednesday.

Police say officers attached to Chifley Police District attended a home on Halfpenny Drive, Kelso at about 8.10pm on Wednesday (January 19) to speak to a man.
After officers spoke with the 39-year-old man, he was placed under arrest and taken to the police vehicle before he is alleged to have coughed in the face of a male constable.
IN OTHER NEWS AROUND BATHURST:
The man was taken to Bathurst Police Station and charged with not complying with a noticed direction re spitting/coughing - COVID-19; and assaulting an officer in the execution of their duty.
An outstanding warrant for a traffic-related offence was also executed, police say.
The man was refused bail to appear at Bathurst Local Court today (January 20).
