Held at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre from January 20-25, the championships brought together some of the best swimmers across the state, with Bathurst originally having 11 swimmers qualifying for events.
That team originally consisted of Tyler Johnson, Caleb Cashman, Alexander Evans, Liam Deagan, Nikki Browne, Thalia Rumming, Sienna Whalan, Lillian Milgate, Molly Cassel, Georgie McPhail and Bronte Cullen-Ward, however, Cassel and Cullen-Ward didn't end up competing at the championships.
It was Johnson, Cashman and Whalan that claimed a medal each at the championships, with Cashman winning a silver in the under 14s 400 metres individual medley, Johnson claiming bronze in the under 16s 400 metres individual medley and Whalan taking bronze in the under 15s 50 metres breaststroke.
Bathurst Swim Club coach Josh Stapley was enormously proud of his team's effort.
"They well and truly exceeded all expectations," he said.
"They did really well and there wasn't a bad swim among them. A lot of them stepped up and to see how far they've come in 12 months is pretty huge.
"Last year we had three finals swims and it was the first time we had state finalists at least in a long time. Three finals swims and the highest finish was fifth and I think this year we had 13 finals swims, including two bronzes and a silver medal."
Cashman's silver medal in the under 14s 400 metres individual medley came in a time of 4:54.70, however, he was less than two seconds behind eventually winner Luke Higgs from Warringah, who finished in a time of 4:52.92
Whalan was also close off finishing a position higher, her bronze medal in the under 15s 50 metres breaststroke achieved in a time of 35.36 seconds, less than a second off runner-up Piper Gregory-Reid from Knox Pymble who had a time of 35.05 seconds.
Johnson's bronze medal in the under 16s 400 metres was achieved in a time of 4:53.61, finishing behind Samson Barisic (4:42.30) and Scott Swinburn (4:47.32) in first and second respectively.
Stapley said results have turned around massively in recent years for the club.
"Three years ago we had less entries [in the state titles] than final swims this year, which is a massive progression in the last three years," he said.
"To not have only one standout swimmer is great and we had plenty of different finalists and we had 23 swims that were in the top 20, so we're there or thereabouts.
"It sets as up so well for the coming few months with country championships in three weeks. We're going to take an even bigger team to country, trying to make an impact on the overall point score.
"We'll keep pushing towards the state open championships in March before we make the final push to nationals in April."
