The luncheon marked the start of what Bathurst U3A publicity officer Peter Winter hopes will be a better year after COVID has caused many disruptions.
"People need to get out and mix and keep active," he said.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
U3A offers a myriad of activities for people over the age of 50, mostly retirees, giving them physical and mental stimulation as well as an opportunity to socialise once their day-to-day lives become a little less busy.
Dorothy Young, who has been a member for around three years, said it's a great way to get out and keep social.
Ms Young was previously a teacher and, in the latter years of her career, was an executive assistant for the head of a research unit at Western Sydney University.
Now that she is retired, she enjoys the social contact that comes with being part of U3A.
"It's been a bit more restricted because of COVID, but it's just nice to get out, do a few things and mix with a few people," Ms Young said.
Term one for the over 50s officially commences next Monday, February 7.
