It's not traditionally an occasion widely celebrated in Australia, but the growth of Super Bowl viewership over the past few years has encouraged a local venue to continue a celebratory event that was started 'spur-of-the-moment' last year.

The Family Hotel will host an event on Monday, February 14 to celebrate the 56th Super Bowl between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals, in what will be the championship game of America's National Football League [NFL].
Family Hotel assistant manager Ryan Hopkins said a special, American-themed menu will accompany the event, alongside drinks specials.
"We'll have our full range of gourmet burgers, which will all be served with waffle fries, buckets of chicken wings and southern fried chicken strips with slaw and dipping sauces," Mr Hopkins said.
"There will also be a range of American beers, such as Budweiser, Coors and Miller, available over the bar."
Family Hotel event manager Cletis Carr, who proudly hails from Portland, Oregon, said the event attracted around 40 patrons last year, suggesting there's a dedicated local following for American football.
"It's not even really about the sport itself, it's an excuse for people to come out on a Monday and have a good time," Mr Carr said.
:"We had people here last year who had taken the day off work to attend, and found out they had attended American sporting events overseas and were interested to meet like-minded people."
Mr Carr said the event is also a unique way to help lure patrons back to venues, with COVID uncertainty having had a profound effect on patronage despite venues staying open.
"It's really hard getting people out of the house at the moment, which is unfortunately the harsh realities of learning to live with the pandemic," he said.
"But when people do come out, I think it occurs to them how much they've missed social interaction in a public venue."
The venue will be open from 10am, with the Super Bowl to commence at 10.30am.
