NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian was in Bathurst on Tuesday to announce the grant which was in Round One of the NSW Government’s Regional Cultural Fund.
She said the investment would see BMEC’s City Hall turned into a more adaptable, first-class performance space.
“I am so please to announced this funding today which will ensure the continued growth of Bathurst’s vibrant arts and culture scene,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“The NSW Government is fully committed to creating vibrant, liveable communities in our regions and that means getting families, business owners and locals access to high quality facilities and infrastructure.”

Bathurst MP Paul Toole said the funding would go to new battens for scenery and lighting, a new wireless communication system for the City Hall and theatre, and a replacement of the theatre sound console.
“The performance space and facilities at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre are already recognised as among the best in regional NSW.”
“This funding will really help put us on the map, attracting even bigger shows and more performers.”
