Members of the Carillon Group will be on hand at Bathurst RSL, the venue for the expo, to discuss what has already been achieved and what has yet to be done for the refurbishment works.
Mayor Graeme Hanger said he was delighted that work to upgrade the Carillon has the support of the Bathurst Business Chamber at the expo, and that it will receive further chamber support at the 2018 Peak Connect Carillon Business Awards dinner in October.
“Although we were fortunate enough to be given a generous grant of $300,000 towards the upgrade there is still quite a way to go before our target of $750,000 is reached,” he said.
“The new bells are being cast, investigations are being carried out to upgrade the Eternal Flame and plans are being made to install the bells.”
The business expo will be held from 5pm to 8pm at the RSL, showcasing a range of different businesses during that time.
Entry is free and there will be light catering supplied.
Vicki Wilson, patron of the Bathurst War Memorial Carillon fundraising effort, is keen to make sure that the work continues and hopes that the community will get behind the fundraising to bring the Bathurst icon up to world standard.
She looks forward to hearing the Carillon being played in November for the opening of ArtState, when the monument is being featured in a piece especially composed for the Carillon.
