The Bettors Delight filly had only managed one win since taking out the Group 2 Gold Bracelet at Bathurst in March, but that was not a true indication of the form she was in for trainer Steve Turnbull.
Art Series had endured her share of bad luck prior to Sunday’s Group 3 New South Wales Breeders Challenge Three Year Old Fillies Regional Final – often getting caught wide from tough draws.
With Amanda Turnbull in the gig for the 1,730 metres decider, Art Series ($6.40) again copped a tough barrier 11 draw and found herself three wide.
But this time Art Series got cover from Never Been Said.
That certainly helped on a windy afternoon so when Turnbull got her clear into the home straight, she responded. Art Series hit the lead with 90m to go, holding off Jeradas Delight ($5.20) by a neck.
She got home in a 28.7 seconds split for a 1:56.3 mile rate.
The $24.0 favourite and early leader, Island Banner, was a further 6.8m back in third.
The win made a Breeders Challenge Regional Finals double for Art Series, who last year won the two-year-old crown after facing the breeze.
