NSW Police urge public to be vigilant with safety, security
EARLIER this week police urged the public to be vigilant with safety and security on and off Mount Panorama.
Organisers say this year’s Great Race could attract a record crowd with more than 6000 camp sites booked around Mount Panorama and more than 33,000 people calling the campgrounds home for the week.
NSW Police commenced Operation Hoist on Thursday, October 4 and it will continue until Sunday, October 7 to ensure the safety and security of competitors, officials and thousands of spectators throughout the event. Read more.
Chifley Police District officers have advised the following tips:
- If you are out and about do not leave property unattended, such as handbags, wallets and mobile phones, especially in licensed venues and public spaces
- Do not carry large amounts of cash with you
- Consider having your local police station number programmed into your phone, Bathurst 6332 8699
