The best falls are expected to fall on high ground around Oberon and the Jenolan Caves, but there is also a chance of snow between Bathurst and Lithgow.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology's MetEye website, snow is expected to start falling about 7am with a peak about 10am.
The snow is forecast to clear by mid afternoon but should be just a taste of what's to come as winter rolls around again.
The predicted snow on Friday will come at the end of a week where the maximum is not expected to reach 20 on any day and overnight minimums will hover around the 1-3 degrees Celsius mark.
The bureau is forecasting a partly cloudy day on Sunday with a top of 18 and overnight low of three while on Monday we can expect a sunny day and another maximum of 18.
No significant rainfall is forecast this week after Bathurst recorded 22.8 millimetres in just 24 hours on Friday.
