The Neighbourhood Centre held an afternoon tea on Wednesday afternoon to recognise the 40 volunteers who contribute their expertise to the organisation.
"A lot of our volunteers work on the front desk, serving as the first point of contact for clients who access our services," communication and volunteer engagement officer Rebecca Wilson said.
"Our volunteers also play a role in attracting more people to the organisation, which allows us to continue providing our services to a high standard."
National Volunteer Week is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and Ms Wilson said the event serves as a key time to place nominations for the 2019 NSW Volunteer of the Year awards.
"People thrive on receiving recognition for their efforts, and the awards celebrate volunteers who have achieved outstanding results for their community," she said.
Nominations for the 2019 NSW Volunteer of the Year awards close on Friday, July 12.
National Volunteer Week runs from May 20-26, and The Neighbourhood Centre is always on the lookout for new volunteers.
