The CSU number 8 produced his best performance of the New Holland Cup season on Saturday at University Oval as he helped the students to a 41-5 win over Blayney.
"He was outstanding, it was his best game of the season. He had 20 carries for the game, was really strong, defended well, he got two turnovers - he was a big influence on the game," CSU coach Dave Conyers said.
"He's a concreter by trade and he has just got that toughness, he did really well today. All the blokes I've played with over the years, the concreters were the best guys, they have just got another level of toughness."
It was that sort of toughness that helped CSU finish strongly after a scrappy first half. Though the hosts opened up a 17-5 lead, they had to do plenty of work in defence as they gifted Blayney possession time and time again.
But in the second half - even when running into the wind - CSU lifted their standard. The hard work they have been putting into their fitness showed as they posted four tries in the final 20 minutes.

"We conceded a lot of penalties and turned a lot of ball over at the breakdown in the first half, so they had quite a bit of ball. But the only try they scored was from five metres out with their forwards," Conyers said.
"That was the only try they scored, it shows our defence has definitely been improving the last couple of weeks.
"We then got some quality ball in that last 20 minutes and the backs ran strong.
"We've been working really hard on our fitness, but we've just got to put together our plays over 80 minutes a bit more consistently instead of just finishing strong."
Star centre Regan Hughes continued his good season as crossed for a double, both impressive long-range efforts. Wingers Baden Kelly and Nick Greenberg, prop Lachie Buckton and Nick Plunkett also scored as the students notched up another bonus-point win.
