With the COVID-19 situation putting public gatherings on hold for the foreseeable future, the competition has been remodelled to allow local artists [of all ages] to enter their works via online submission.
"Artists will be asked to supply up to three photos of their artwork in lieu of a physical artwork," Bathurst mayor Bobby Bourke said.
"Along with the completed entry form they are also asked to supply up to a half page description of the artwork - this should cover materials, inspiration and interesting facts about how the piece was created."
Each year, the competition has a central theme directly related to spreading awareness around waste issues and this year's theme is cans, aluminium and steel.
Cr Bourke said each artwork will be judged on four criteria: concept, quality, recycled component and sustainability.
"In 2019 we had over 100 entries across a range of categories from preschools to professional artists," he said.
"We are hoping to see some creative and inspiring entries and in past exhibitions, the standard and creativity of entries has been very high."
Entries must be submitted to waste2art@bathurst.nsw.gov.au by 4pm on May 19.
