Glanmire Boarding Kennels and Cattery have been operating since 1988 and owners Adrienne and Michael Miller have never experienced such a downturn in trade in the business' 32-year history.
Mr Miller is confident that business will make a recovery in the coming months and while trade has been slowing picking up in recent weeks, he doesn't believe it'll go back to normal until overseas travel will be allowed again.
"We took a massive hit in April," he said.
"We had stocked up on food because we thought we were going to have a big Easter, but when this all happened, we had nothing to eat it.
"The only ones that were coming in were from family emergencies or people who dropped off their pets because they were doing work in the backyard."
Regular clients for the service comes within a 100 kilometre radius of Bathurst, however, bookings are taken from all over, including other states.
The main animal clients are dogs and cats, but the team can care for smaller animals like guinea pigs or rabbits.
Ms Miller said her business provides full animal care, for any breeds.
"It gives people that piece of mind that when they have to go away, that their pets can have full care here," she said.
Staff are also following the COVIDSafe protocols, such as social distancing, disinfecting surfaces and using their own leads, to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
