The 3rd Bathurst Rover Scout Unit donated dash cameras, small portable refrigerators and wiring for better radio chargers to the Bathurst Rural Fire Service Brigade.
The local unit made the presentation on behalf of the Scouts NSW Bushfire Recovery Grants.
The 3rd Bathurst Rover Scout Unit's Paul Hennessy said the donated items will improve safety and welfare for the RFS volunteers "undertaking the dangerous and exhausting work of firefighting to protect their community".
The dash cameras for the brigade's two fire tankers will allow the volunteers to review and learn from training and episodes, Mr Hennessy said, and the portable refrigerators will give the volunteers access to cold water to address heat exhaustion.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"The wiring for better radio chargers is so important in emergencies when telecommunications may fail," Mr Hennessy said.
Bathurst RFS senior deputy captain Nick Fabian welcomed the 3rd Bathurst Rover Scout Unit and unit leader Skye Veech then explained the history of the Scouts NSW Bushfire Recovery Grants.
She acknowledged the Scouts NSW grant of $3300 with the support of Scouts NSW chief commissioner Neville Tomkins.
Mr Fabian thanked Scouts NSW and the 3rd Bathurst Rover Scout Unit by giving a letter and certificate to Ms Veech.
He said the items donated would not just benefit the RFS volunteers, but the whole community.
