Heidi will be participating in the MS Walk Run Roll next month by walking 10 kilometres around the Macquarie River.
She is also fundraising through the MS website.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
Heidi's reason for joining the event is a very personal one.
Her sister Lauren was diagnosed with MS in August, 2020 and at 28 years old now has to learn how to live with and manage her condition.
The left side of her body is affected, but she still has good mobility and plans to walk the river with her family in April.
"There are a lot of people out there who are worse off, whose cases have progressed quite quickly. No two cases are the same and so that is why it's important to raise awareness," Heidi said.
Lauren's family and friends have raised over $1500 so far, exceeding their initial goal, and hope to keep adding to it.
The funds raised through the event will be used by Multiple Sclerosis Limited to ensure that people living with MS in the ACT, NSW, Tasmania and Victoria get the vital support they need to meet their goals and live their best life.
Heidi will walk her 10 kilometres on April 11 from 7am.
She has invited other community members to join her campaign, either through donations or by walking with her on the day.
"Anyone is welcome to come along and join us," she said.
