Business owner Vanessa Pringle has been a florist for 24 years and is set to celebrate 10 years of business in Bathurst next month, so is hoping to mark that milestone with two first place prizes.
The local florist was a finalist for the service excellence category in 2017 and has been listed again in that category as well as the retail presentation category, putting the business up for two of the three florist awards.
IN OTHER BUSINESS NEWS IN BATHURST:
"[I'm] very excited. We're top four in the state of NSW and ACT and we're the only regional florist," Ms Pringle said.
"These awards aren't just about us, it's showing that just because we're regional doesn't mean we can't do it with the big kids."
The finalists are picked based on a points system.
Mystery shoppers visit stores all over the state, assessing the businesses and marking them based on a specific criteria to come up with an overall score.
The winners will be announced at the Fresh Awards gala dinner, which will be held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney on July 21, pending COVID regulations.
"I'm taking all the staff down for the awards night as well, so we'll close at lunchtime on the Wednesday and reopen lunchtime on the Thursday," Ms Pringle said.
"[I] just have to hope it goes ahead; we have our dresses ready, our shoes ready, everything's ready."
Sydney Markets CEO Brad Latham said they are proud to support the work of businesses based in NSW and the ACT.
"The Fresh Awards is about highlighting the achievements of local business ... Our finalists have not only survived, but thrived, despite the incredibly difficult circumstances of the past two years - droughts, floods, fires and COVID," he said.
Ms Pringle said she is really looking forward to the event and thanked Bathurst for what she said was its incredible support over the last 10 years.
