Although the first support session was smaller than hoped, the feedback was very positive from participants.
Mr Hayes encourages community members supporting someone living with a disability to be proactive in having strategies for when incidents arise and join in the Support Matters Zoom meeting at 6pm on Thursday, October 7.
"I guess it just depends if people feel they need it or not," he said.
"Sometimes things aren't a priority until something goes wrong.
"I guess we're trying to do it as a prevention for these guys that have siblings [with a disability] so they actually get the support they need."
The Support Matters initiative is a safe space for members to share their experiences and seek advice if needed.
