It was behind the O'Connell Pub on the back of a truck in 2011 that saw the start of a popular community event, the Fish River Festival.

Now 10 years on, the event showcases a number of local artists and bands performing on two stages continuously for eight hours.
With last year's event cancelled due to COVID and the 2019 festival held under a veil of smoke, organising committee member Sandra Gibney is looking forward to Sunday, December 12.
"After having a year off we're really looking forward to getting that stage put up and getting the artists on the stage," she said.
"It would have been very easy to say let's leave it to next year but there's been so much put off and with a glimmer of hope we just went okay let's put the call out."
Keeping everyone fed and hydrated, the O'Connell Hotel will be supplying food and drink and the O'Connell Public School's P&C will also have a food store.
In the past, the festival has had a market vibe and children's entertainment in addition to the music, however due to COVID this year will just be about the music.
The festival has always been a free event and Ms Gibney commended the artists on their enthusiasm to play for free even after losing so many paid opportunities during lockdown.
"It's always had this awesome family community gathering vibe and the artists really love that and for them all to jump straight at the chance to play for free again I think is super commendable," she said.
"Let's pray for a good day of weather and get it on. It's going to be great."
The line-up includes:
- Andy Nelson
- Matt Boylan-Smith
- The Safety of Life at Sea
- Emily Butler
- Luke Furbank
- James Sutherland
- Hairy Fox Butts
- Oconic
- Genni Kane
- Smith & Jones
The festival runs from 11am-7pm.
