Defending champions the Sydney Sixers will meet the Melbourne Stars in a star-studded season opener at the SCG on Sunday evening, in a match featuring some of the biggest hitters in the game.
And every time players like Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Dan Christian and Moises Henriques manage to clear the fence at the ground old ground, Redbacks' coffers will be boosted by $500 thanks to the Toyota Bash For Cash promotion.
As part of the promotion, a different Australian cricket club will be selected for each match of the BBL season to collect cash for every six hit.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
Each club will receive a minimum of $2500, even if their match is washed out, and a maximum of $10,000.
Redbacks joint vice president Clint Moxon said it was exciting to be the beneficiary for the season's first match - and they already have plans for the money.
"We will be investing the money back into the club and looking at training kits for our sides," he said.
"We have 80 registered players this year, that's the most we've ever had, and we have 23 players under the age of 18 which is fantastic for a club with no junior sides.
"During COVID our club decided not to take the sponsorship money from our major sponsors The Professionals and Knickerbocker Hotel because they're also small businesses themselves, so maybe [being selected for Bash for Cash] is a bit of karma for us."
Mr Moxon said Redbacks were fielding five senior sides this year including two in President's Cup, a second and third grade side, and a first grade side in the Bathurst Orange Inter District Cricket competition.
He said players and supporters would gather at the Knickerbocker Hotel on Sunday evening to watch the Sixers-Stars clash and, hopefully, count their winnings.
