Executive secretary, Brett Kenworthy said this year's show "has been fantastic"
"In spite of the weather, it has been great. Attendance on Friday was better than I thought, but in saying that with the rain, my expectations were low.
"Obviously gate takings will be down significantly on last year, but at the core we're still here," he said.
Apart from some showjumping events on Friday afternoon, the show went ahead, including the fireworks, as planned.
"Half way through the show jumping, it had to be cancelled; the ground had became too soft, which can be dangerous," Mr Kenworthy said.
But he said organisers were able to play catch up, rescheduling the cancelled events into Saturday's competition.
Mr Kenworthy said the fireworks also went ahead on Friday, despite the inclement weather.
"I always tell people rain, hail, shine or drought the show goes on. Really high winds are the only thing that really knock us about."
He said while Friday's crowd was smaller because of the weather, those who braved the wet and cold conditions " said it was great.
And while the showground was full of puddles and a muddy mess on Friday, by 11am Saturday the ground dry, the skies clear and thousands of show fans began flooding through the gate.
"Saturday's crowd was great, the numbers were up on last year," he said.
He said feedback on this year's show which had many new inclusions was very positive.
Among the new inclusions were a hoof and hook competition, which was introduced back into the show after a long break. Mr Kenworthy said apart from the Royal Easter Show, Bathurst is one of the few shows to have it.
He said it was a great addition to the show.
"Schools run their whole agricultural programs from it."
Other new inclusions included more children's rides.
"We received feedback that there weren't enough rides at last year's show for children, so we've brought in a few more child-friendly rides this year," he said.
But in doing so they also retained favourites such as the dodgem cars and the ferris wheel, as well as bringing many of the big rides as well.
Mr Kenworthy said planning for next year's show was already underway.
