The acknowledgment has been included in council's new code of meeting practice and is to be read in conjunction with the prayer at the start of each full council meeting.
It will be read following the public forum to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land: "I would like to acknowledge that this meeting is being held on the traditional lands of the Wiradjuri people and recognise the strength, resilience and capacity of Aboriginal people in this land."
It might be just a small thing, but it's a significant - and welcome - development.
Last days of the winter festival
IT'S not too late to enjoy the Bathurst Winter Festival.
Charles Sturt University will take over the Winter Playground on Wednesday to celebrate Foundation Day, the day that marks the creation of CSU in 1989.

The festival wraps up on Sunday with the Festival Farewell with Elton.
Sir Elton John will be on the playlist as Bathurst gets ready to party with the Rocket Man in January 2020.
Food vendors will be on-site from 11am-9pm.
Permaculture at Rahamim centre
WHAT do you know about permaculture? What would you like to know?
The Rahamim Ecological Centre is running a short introduction to permaculture from 1pm-4pm this Saturday, July 20.
Led by Rahamim's Jen Ringbauer, the session "will give you the basic ideas behind permaculture so you can see what it's about and whether it's for you".
It's a chance to learn more about the subject before signing up to a full-length permaculture course.
The three-hour session will be held at the Rahamim Ecology Centre on Busby Street.
Cost is $10. Register at contact@rahamim.org.au.
