Mr Hogarth, who is the committee's member protection information officer, wants to see the stadium become one of the premier indoor facilities in the Central West.

The indoor stadium already received a NSW Government back in May last year, which has already been used to upgrade the court's floorboards and install air conditioning and stall glass-screen doors in the foyer.

But he's calling on Bathurst Regional Council to further its investment into the ageing facility.

"We're asking council to step up to the plate and meet their commitment to the community," he said.

"We want the stadium maintained and brought up to the standard people expect for 2020.

"There's no filtered water in the stadium, so there's no where to fill up a bottle. When it rains, the water leaks through the roof.

"There's no air conditioning [in the playing area]. I've been to stadiums in Leeton and West Wyalong and they have it, but we just have fans."

The stadium's future came under a cloud in late 2017 when council refused to extend the lease for the old Bathurst Basketball Association to continue running the facility before Basketball NSW took over in 2018.

Mr Hogarth said the new committee is "like a phoenix rising from the ashes".

"We have many players that are keen to strut themselves at a state level and we've got a strong tradition of basketball in Bathurst, so we're trying to revamp it," he said.

"We want the facility to be one that can attract people that want to be involved and volunteer."

Council has also put in an application to the next round of the Stronger Country Communities Fund for a further $120,000 to do more works on the backboard system.

"We continue to work with Basketball NSW on works that are required at the stadium and any works are subject to the budget process," Bathurst Regional Council general manager David Sherley said.
