While winery tours are not a new concept, Saturday was the first time the Bathurst Wine Explorer visited multiple wineries in one day.

"I've been running wine tours for years but this is the first one we've done in collaboration with the Visitors Centre," Bathurst Tours owner Ian Redpath said.

Throughout the one-day-tour on Saturday, the bus visited three local wineries and stopped for lunch at Abercrombie House where a fourth winery shared its product.

"[On Saturday] our featured winery was Bellbrook Friends," Mr Redpath said.

"So George (Clark) from Bellbrook came, described his wines, served it over lunch and described what it takes for him to make his wine."

After receiving positive feedback, Mr Redpath hopes to make the local tour a regular event taking place on the third weekend of each month.

"This idea was hatched because things like the Bathurst Arts Trail have a dedicated weekend each month and that's what got us thinking about having the wine tour," Mr Redpath said.

"This tour is specifically aimed at locals enjoying local wineries and getting a bit more knowledge out there in the market about how good the Bathurst wineries actually are.

"Focusing on the local wineries was certainly a good thing ... locals supporting locals."

Bookings can be made for the July, August and September wine tours through the Bathurst Visitors Information Centre.
