Bathurst Goldfields at Mount Panorama will be the venue for the Carillon Business Awards on Saturday and chamber president Catherine Fitzsimmons is excited about the awards being back in person.
"Last year we were limited and had a scaled down online people's choice award but to actually have a party to recognise what businesses have achieved during particularly challenging circumstances is great," she explained.
"There's a lot of excitement with businesses right now and everyone is just enjoying being able to see other people face to face and party again."
The original date for the business awards, which will be held for the 37th time this year, was back in October, but due to the COVID-19 lockdown across NSW, it was pushed back, with organisers settling for Saturday, December 4.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
That date was meant to be the first Saturday after the lifting of venue caps, which was ultimately removed weeks ago.
The date has fallen on what is a particularly busy weekend for the city, with the Bathurst 1000 in full swig and Bathurst Regional Council elections on Saturday.
While the clashes couldn't be avoided, Ms Fitzsimmons said the business awards tie in well with the Bathurst 1000, where organisers have sourced their guest speakers.
"The timing with the 1000 actually works quite well," she explained.
"Brad [Schumacher], from Kelso Electrical who is our major sponsor, has been able to get us some great guest speakers associated with the races.
"There will be a nice link between the races this weekend and the night at Goldfields."
Motor racing journalist and presented Greg Rust will MC the awards, while Tim Slade and the Blanchard Racing Team will be attendance too.
Rock cover band Ed and Astro will be performing throughout the night.
In terms of nominations, disability service Vivability is the best represented business, with a grand total of six nominations.
