The premiership jackets have arrived for the Mittagong Lions u12s. Players were presented with them on Thursday, November 23 as they won the Group 6 Junior Rugby League u12 silver grand final at Campbelltown Stadium in September. A season based on the development and retention of young players culminated in a successful campaign and another premiership trophy for the club's expanding cabinet. They took on minor premiers, The Oaks, in the grand final and beat them 12-6 at Campbelltown Stadium. READ ALSO: The premiership secured saw amazing efforts throughout the season rewarded. Captain James Hajdu was able to lift the trophy on behalf of his teammates, albeit one handed as he injured his shoulder 13 minutes into the final. Les Vidal was named player of the final for his outstanding defensive display while fullback Noah Hayman starred by safely diffusing a relentless kicking game from The Oaks. Axl Tinson also played a pivotal role at halfback while Koby Wortz and Diesel Martin were monumental in the middle of the park. 2024 is already shaping up to be another huge year for Mittagong Lions clubs, boasting teams in all age groups from the u6s to First Grade, including both League Tag and Girls rugby league. The 13's of 2024 are looking forward to the challenge of international rugby league, progressing to the Macarthur conference and competing against clubs from the greater West Tigers catchment. The 14s will continue to strive for supremacy after narrowly losing their 13s grand final to ESA Magpies. The 11s of next year also gained valuable experience playing a grand final at Campbelltown Stadium. Anyone interested in playing rugby league or league tag for the Lions won't have to wait too long.
